Yeinner Chicas born and raised in Nicaragua, currently lives in Spain. He graduated as a choreographer and dancer in contemporary dance and Nicaraguan folklore, doing part of his training as a performer in Finland, with a scholarship from the Alpo Aaltokoskki Company in Helsinki. He has worked and collaborated in stage and audiovisual productions as a choreographer, interpreter and performer. In 2023 he won the competition Sólo Improvisa at the Sala Cuarta Pared in Madrid and was nominated as best performer at the BUTACA AWARDS in Catalonia for the piece Cowards by Àngel Durán. In 2024 he was nominated as best performer at the Max Awards as best performer for Cowards. Yeinner is part of the resident artists of the Centro Coreográfico de La Rioja; he was also selected together with Maximiliano Sanford as a proposal for a research residency at the Centro Coreográfico Canal in Madrid in 2021. Today, Chicas continues with his research processes in contemporary creation and composition, experimenting in other artistic disciplines such as theatre, circus and experimental voice, finding a dialogue between his folkloric origins, indigenous roots and the contemporary scene.
