DMZ: Demilitarized Zone<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

The term \u2018Demilitarized Zone\u2019 (DMZ) seems to imply an absence of military presence, but of course, this is not the case in Korea. Barbed-wire fences and artillery cannons populate its borders. But inside the DMZ, there exists a peaceful natural environment that is perhaps the least affected by human hands in all of Korea. The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a potent symbol of a divided people. This performance attempts to bring the DMZ into the consciousness of our everyday lives. Over half a century has passed since the DMZs establishment, and it has been the subject of national security studies, academic inquiry, environmental research, and even tourism. Now it has also become a subject of artistic investigation, especially by dance performers.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Duri Dance Theatre<\/strong>, a Korean institution twinned with ACT Festival for years, celebrates in 2023 the 20th anniversary of ACT by offering a show that mixes performance, music, dance and audiovisuals, created expressly for this occasion, by the hand of various members who, in past editions of the Festival, have participated showing their pieces and won several of the main prizes that ACT awards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
