The 2026 edition of ACT Festival, International Festival of Emerging Artist, receives more than 600 artistic proposals from five continents.
ACT Festival consolidates its international standing in its 23rd edition with the receipt of 660 artistic proposals from 74 countries around the globe. This represents an increase of 24%, as last year proposals came from 56 countries.
For the 2026 edition, which will take place from 3 to 6 June in Bilbao and Barakaldo (Bizkaia), projects from Mexico, Argentina, California, Korea, France, Italy and Switzerland have been selected, as well as several spanish regions such as Valencia and Madrid. All of these works are difficult to find in the usual theatre programming due to their origin or uniqueness.

Out of the 660 proposals submitted, 449 were international, with a notable number coming from Europe and, for the first time, a growing number from Africa and Asia.

As for the works submitted by Spanish companies, there were 189, while the number of pieces from the Basque Country reached 22.
By genre, dance projects stand out, followed by theatre and performance. Among the proposals received, contemporary circus projects also stand out.
