Each year, ACT chooses a theme to reflect on the contemporary performing arts scene. This multifaceted theme is designed to encourage artists, cultural practitioners and the public to re-examine the current landscape of the performing arts. This invitation to reflect extends to the programme, the spaces for meeting and debate, and the workshops offered by the festival.
This year we want to focus on artistic commitment.
Should art be committed?
Do we make a commitment to our work when we exhibit it publicly?
What responsibility do we take on when we share it?
And is it solely an artistic commitment, or is it also a social one?
Commitment is part of the message we choose to tell our stories. Where and how we do so is also a commitment.
