The 2025 edition of ACT Festival, International Festival of Emerging Scene, receives more than 500 artistic proposals from the five continents.
ACT Festival consolidates internationally in its 22nd edition with the reception of 550 artistic proposals from 56 countries around the world. In addition, for the first time, pieces from all five continents have been submitted to the call for entries.
For the 2025 edition, which will take place from 4 to 7 June in Bilbao and Barakaldo (Bizkaia), projects have been selected from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Korea, Ecuador, France, Italy and Switzerland, as well as from several Autonomous Communities such as Murcia, Valencia and Madrid. All of them works that, due to their origin or singularity, are difficult to find in regular theatre programmes.
Of the aforementioned 550 proposals, 330 were international, with a notable number coming from Europe and also, as a novelty, from several African countries. As for the works presented by national companies, there were 188, while the presence of pieces from the Basque Country amounted to 27.
In terms of modalities, dance projects stood out, followed by theatre and those of a performative nature. Among the proposals received, those of contemporary circus also stand out.
