AC/E’s Program for the Internationalization of the Spanish Culture, PICE, supports ACT International Festival for Emerging Performing Artists as an space of encounter among programmers and artists, to promote internationally Spanish companies.

ACT International Festival of Emerging Performing Artists 2019 will host in its XVI edition from May 29 to June 1, Troels Primdahl, curator, choreographer and director who works in Berlin, the director of the 4×4 Festival of Mexico, Shantí Vera, and the artistic director of the What You See festival in Utrecht, Vincent Wijlhuizen. The visit of these two programmers takes place this year within the framework of the AC/E’s Program for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture, PICE, assistance for visitors granted by Spanish Cultural Action.

Shantí Vera is a stage director, choreographer, dancer and director of the International Festival 4×4 of Mexico, an encounter for artists, creators, managers, thinkers and researchers of performing arts and live arts. In its nine editions, the festival has had a continuous presence of Spanish companies. The presence of Shantí Vera at the festival represents an internationalization opportunity for the companies participating in the 16th edition. The main goal of his visit is try to create a tangible network between this festival and ACT, as well as creating a stable agreement for the exchange of pieces in future editions. Troels Primdahl, on the other hand, is a curator, choreographer and director who works in Berlin, where he currently works at Trauma Bar und Kino, where he develops a multidisciplinary work, ranging from performance and stage intervention in fashion to artistic installations or Dance. Troels’ career focuses on finding new ways to present and produce emerging choreographers and performance artists.

Vincent Wijlhuizen comes as artistic and financial director of the festival What You See, a performing arts competition from Utrecht, focused on gender and diversity issues. In this sense, the festival of the Netherlands fits with the proposals that ACT Festival usually schedules, so its presence can allow ACT pieces to be programmed in What You See.

During their visit to ACT Festival, they have planned several meetings with national and international programmers, as well as representatives of embassies and consulates to explore future collaborations. In addition, they will participate in the sessions of ACTmsofera, meeting spaces between cultural agents and artists who visit us.
