In a dream-like atmosphere, under a single spot in the center, we discover a shape, neither human, nor animal: it’s the narrator of the story. He/She/It is trying to share a tale, using solely the hands; as if a native woman was telling a mythical story to a stranger, in that case, the audience. In this beginning, the performers introduce the concept of the first metamorphosis with a creature morphing from human to animal, and/or from animal to human, inspired by the animals living in the himalayan mountains. Lights and music create an enigmatic atmosphere where the creature remains in a chiaroscuro, leaving the audience with the question of what it is actually looking at.

Danae & Dionysios are two artists from Greece. They have been collaborating since 2015 and have so far created three productions, UNCIA, ATMA, “Free At Last: Rerooted”. Individually, they have worked for companies such as Akram Khan Company, ZfinMalta Ensemble, Hellenic Dance Company and more. “UNCIA”, which they are presenting at ACT Festival 2022, has toured internationally in more than 11 countries, and has been awarded first prize at the RIDCC Rotterdam, as well as second prize at the International Choreographic Competition in Hannover. In their creations Danae and Dionysios proposes harmonic relationships between nature and its living beings, breaking the stereotypical hierarchy, while the dreamlike atmosphere that often envelops his works takes the audience on a journey through space and time where they become witnesses to a conflict between chaos and order.
