ACT 2022
Award List

The ACT 2022 jury, made up of Olatz de Andrés, Paul O’Donnell and Rey Rodriguez, has issued its verdict, establishing the following awards:

ACT Main Award

Reverse discourse, Linotip Centro Independent Coreografic (Romania)

On the piece, the jury highlighted:
“The ACT Main Award goes to an artistic concept which felt relevant, bold and brave. In this piece we really recognise the performers physical skill and commitment, which strengthened the conviction of the idea that the performance was trying to evoke. In an exceptional display of performances over the past four days it was one that had a particularly strong and evocative impact for us.”

DURI Korea Award

El baile de la zurda, Lacerda (Catalunya)

On the piece, the jury highlighted:
“We felt this work offered an intelligent and celebratory combination of tradition which was dealt with from a contemporary perspective. It generated an experience of joy, using a complex development of change that flowed throughout the event. We wish this company all the best as they reach Korean audiences with this work.”

ACT Residency Award

Personas escandalosas que no caben en este mundo, Orientación Colectiva Loli (Catalunya)

On the piece, the jury highlighted:
“This was a piece that has huge entertainment potential whilst tackling difficult and challenging subjects. We have selected this as the residency award winner seeing the value and talent in their making that deserves to be recognised and supported. We’d love to see this show and the artists behind it continue to grow with this opportunity.”

Mention to the best creation

/Séance/ Sequences between the invisible, Jan Jedenak (Germany)

On the piece, the jury highlighted:
“This was a show from an artist that had really thought about the experience for their audience. The concept created was very strong, surprising and strangely poignant at points. The finely rigorous craft of this work is why we have selected it as Best Creation and want to acknowledge the imagination of the artist behind it.”

Mention to the best performance

Punto y seguido, Labotilar (France)

“These performers were incredibly strong, with a dynamic way of travelling between the tones that their performance held. They displayed in this performance a really accomplished technique that was inhabited with emotion and a very rich range of skills.”
